Opportunities without barriers

One sunny morning, Yerson Hernandez arrived like many other young people at the Training Centre of the Youth Employment Program of the ACDI/VOCA LA Foundation. Filled with hope he looked for an opportunity to turn page. After suffering from a brain tumour, he managed to overcome his disease and now seeks to overcome his physical difficulties by demonstrating that he is capable of working.
“If I get the job, I hope I can help my mum and continue building my house. It’s the opportunity I’ve always been waiting for. I feel that can perform the same or better than other people”.
In this program Yerson found an opportunity not only for himself, but also for his family.
Now he is enrolled in the program along with many other young people and is about to graduate. His future looks more hopeful, and his enthusiasm comes out in all his classes. Like him, hundreds of young people have been able to change their living conditions, and through the opportunity of decent employment, they have managed to reconcile with society and, especially, with themselves.
